Notes
Shooting script of 169 leaves (typed on the rectos and many with handwritten additions on the versos) heavily annotated by James Ivory throughout. Title page includes the typed note "Property of: Merchant Ivory Productions March, 1999" and "New Script issued - 20.9.99" and, in red pen in James Ivory's hand, "shooting script." Script is typed on white, yellow, pink, blue, lavender, and lime green sheets, some of which are variously dated "24.10.99" etc. Script is housed in a pink Snopake Polyfile.

The screenplay for The Golden Bowl was written by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala based on the novel of the same title by Henry James. The film was directed by James Ivory and produced by Ismail Merchant for Merchant Ivory Productions; it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on 14 May 2000 and was released in the United States in 2001.
