Shooting script of approximately 140 leaves (typed on the rectos and many with handwritten additions on the versos) heavily annotated by James Ivory throughout. Upper cover of wrapper includes typed title, statement of responsibility, an address for Merchant Ivory Productions in London, and the typed note "Second Draft." Script is followed by typed script changes (5 pages, stapled) dated 11 May 1987.
Maurice was directed by James Ivory and produced by Ismail Merchant for Merchant Ivory Productions; it was released in the United States on 18 September 1987.
Formerly post-bound with red paper wrappers, upper cover with typed title page. Now disbound but gathered in a large binder clip.
Part of a collection of film director James Ivory's heavily annotated shooting scripts, editing notebooks, and small scripts. Each of the thirty-one films he directed for Merchant Ivory Productions is represented in the collection, beginning with the production company's first film, The Householder (1963), and including, among others, The Europeans (1979), A Room with A View (1985), Howards End (1992), The Remains of the Day (1993), The Golden Bowl (2000), and The City of Your Final Destination (2010). The collection also includes two films directed by Ivory's partner, Ismail Merchant (In Custody (1994) and The Mystic Masseur (2002)).
