Notes
Original script of approximately 126 leaves (typed on the rectos and most with handwritten additions on the versos) heavily annotated and by James Ivory and others. Title page includes address for Merchant Ivory Productions in New York, the note "December 1, 1976 Revised" and notes in James Ivory's hand. Preceded by a typed outline (approximately 7 pages, with additional pages laid in) and followed by copies of call sheets for 24 January-4 February 1977(4 pages).
With a note in James Ivory's hand adhered to first page of typed outline: ""Roseland" original script 1977."
Roseland was directed by James Ivory and produced by Ismail Merchant for Merchant Ivory Productions; it was released in the United States on 2 October 1977.

Each of the thirty-one films he directed for Merchant Ivory Productions is represented in the collection, beginning with the production company's first film, The Householder (1963), and including, among others, The Europeans (1979), A Room with A View (1985), Howards End (1992), The Remains of the Day (1993), The Golden Bowl (2000), and The City of Your Final Destination (2010). The collection also includes two films directed by Ivory's partner, Ismail Merchant (In Custody (1994) and The Mystic Masseur (2002)).
