Summary
Rosenberg congratulates Pach on his letter in the Times defending French art. He says that American artists don't realize, or don't want to realize, the influence of "degenerate" French art on theirs and the positive effect it will have on it. In fact, it is no more "degenerate" than art from earlier periods. He thinks their attitude is aimed at self-serving publicity that certain artists are seeking to attract attention to their own paintings.
