Summary
Saying that he is using a painting by Sébastien Bourdon in Beaumont's possession to make a point about the introduction of "picturesque circumstances where the subject, & the general style of the picture is grand & solemn" in his essay on the picturesque; saying that he has described the picture from memory, but he would appreciate Beaumont's reading his description and checking it against the original; enclosing the description (the painting in question, based on the description, is most probably Bourdon's "The Return of the Ark"); mentioning that they are in the midst of packing and will be setting off for Foxley on the following day.
