The Blessingtons resided at the Villa Gallo in Naples from 1824 to 1826, when they departed Naples for Rome.
With envelope affixed to the verso of the second sheet, with seal and address panel addressed, "A Lady Blessington / a la Villa Gallo / Naples."
Formerly housed with a folder of letters written to various recipients by Lady Blessington (see MA 13377-13782).

Summary
Thanking her for some poetry she wrote for him and telling her that any poetry he might write for her would be unworthy of her; saying that he is looking forward to her visit to France, when he will write more worthy verses, inspired by being back in France himself. With a manuscript of an untitled poem on a second sheet, the first line reading: "Contempler une femme, avant que le linceul".
