Summary
Georges Bernheim has communicated to Hessel Rosenberg's letter saying that Rosenberg didn't receive Hessel's letter of November 1. He is glad to see that Rosenberg is getting used to his new life in New York, which must suit him very well. In the missing letter, Hessel had authorized Rosenberg to take possession of paintings he lent for exhibitions in San Francisco (for the World's Fair there) and Buenos Aires, organized by the French government. Hessel feels that he is aging quickly because of the idleness imposed by his exile in southern France. He is surrounded by friends but wonders how long this exile is going to last and how they will survive it financially.
