Summary
Informing him that he received his letter, after a month and a half, and immediately sent it to Georges Bernheim. Hessel has contacted Jacques Laroche (a Parisian art dealer) about Rosenberg's proposal, and Laroche answered that he wasn't going to sell things for any old price. As for Madame Signac, Hessel has not had an answer from her. Hessel says that the Administration des Beaux-Arts, to whom he entrusted the paintings he sent to the U.S., will not give him an authorization to relinquish them. He asks Rosenberg for help in dealing with this situation. He tells him that Gaston Bernheim(-Jeune) has been quite ill but is now recovering. Hessel has heard from Paris that business is very good there and that high-quality paintings are selling for a lot of money. He himself has had letters from several clients asking whether he would like to sell some of his paintings. Some dealers have even visited him in Cannes, including Durand-Ruel. Hessel and his wife have just celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. He asks if business is going well for Rosenberg in New York.
