Summary
Informing him that he has just learned of the death of Paul Rosenberg's brother-in-law, Yvon Helft, in a car crash and expressing his great sadness. He has not heard from Rosenberg or his brother Edmond for a long time. He goes on to speak of the monotony of life during the war and of how many people continue to be killed, including several he knew. Jeanne Lanvin (the fashion designer) is still alive.
