Summary
Informing him that he is shocked to have had none of his work chosen for the 15th Anniversary Exhibition of the Museum of Modern Art (in New York). He had already been left out of the exhibition of modern drawings, although he was told that this was done inadvertently. He is unhappy with the museum and thinks that he is being omitted deliberately. He has always been included in exhibitions of this kind in the past and has even been told by them that his work has had an important influence on young American painters. He feels that this omission may do him harm. He also informs Rosenberg that he is contributing the royalties from the translation of part of his book to prisoners in Algiers. He is planning to give up writing and devote himself entirely to painting.
