Thanking Beaumont for his congratulations (possibly offered on the election of Abercorn's son James Hamilton as M.P. for Liskeard); writing "You have never failed in kindness in the course of our five & twenty years friendship, & under such circumstances I have only to lament that we see so little of each other"; mentioning the success of his son's "first attempt"; adding that he hopes they will soon see each other "in Town" and sending his regards to Lady Beaumont.
