According to Morton N. Cohen in his publication "Lewis Carroll and Alice / 1832-1982", page 35, published by The Pierpont Morgan Library in 1982, "Carroll began to compile this vocabulary aid on 21 August 1845, when he was thirteen, just after he had become a schoolboy at Richmond School, Yorkshire."
