Notes
The note is undated, however since it refers to meeting on "Friday" and if, in fact, it refers to their first meeting on Friday, June 27, 1879 at the South Kensington Museum, the note would have been written between Saturday, June 21 and Wednesday, June 25 as it is unlikely he would refer to "Friday" if he were writing the day previous to their meeting, Thursday, June 26th.
Written on the verso of Carroll's calling card, printed in purple ink, "Rev, C.L. Dodgson, / Christ Church, Oxford" and in his autograph, in pencil, "T.O."
Although the identity of the recipient is not given in this note, both Miss Thomson and Carroll in their diaries refer to their meeting for the first time at the South Kensington Museum (now the Victoria & Albert Museum) on June 27, 1879. It appears likely that this note is in reference to that first meeting. The note refers to meeting on Friday and June 27th was a Friday in 1879.
Written in pencil.
