Concerning the terms of his engagement at the Drury Lane Theatre for the 1818-1819 season; saying he wishes "...to be paid my Salary every night during the Season, unless confin'd by indisposition after the rate of £20 per week - To have the priviledge, which I have enjoyed for many years, of writing Two admissions every night of performance (whether ill or well) and my benefit announc'd to take place in the month of May - If these offers are acceded to I shall return to London after my engagement here is closed, which will be in the course of a fortnight - I must request an early ans'r as I shall have considerable difficulty to get releas'd from the engagements I have already enter'd into - I take leave of this audience at my benefit, which I expect will be a brilliant one."
