Summary
Saying that his nephew's last two letters reached Cambridge in his absence; commenting on the contents of the former, in which R. W. Elliston announced his intention of marrying Elizabeth Rundall: "I thought of giving you a line, not with a view of dissuading you from the connexion, but of suggesting, preparatory to it, some steps which appeared to me prudent to be taken respecting Miss R's engagement with the Miss Flemings. Just however as I was about to write, your marriage was announced in the Papers, and rendered such interference unnecessary"; writing that at first he had doubted the news, but soon had it confirmed by friends of his nephew in Cambridge and finally by the second letter from Elliston himself; sending his congratulations and sincere wishes to his nephew and his new wife for "success & Happiness."
