Summary
Writing of his father's death: "I have perform'd the last offices for my father. He was buried at Wydcombe (a small village near Bath) where my mother's remains were placed. I shall have a plain stone placed over them to preserve the ground from being broke in upon, at the same time that I feel it a proper token of filial respect"; discussing the terms of his father's allowance; thanking his uncle, on his own and his wife Elizabeth's behalf, for an offer, "which I accept because I am certain you make it most willingly. It has been (tho we contriv'd in every way to be oeconomical) an expensive time for us, but I assure you I have very chearfully done what it was but my duty to do"; writing that he hopes to stop in Cambridge on the way back from engagements in York and see him; concluding "My little circle are all tolerably well & beg their united regards."
