Summary
Saying that his benefit in Bristol the previous night was a great success and that he "had the greatest receipt of any of the perfomers -- £119 -- I am therefore enabled to remit you the £50 you kindly lent me, & which I very sincerely thank you for, & very chearfully return"; saying that he is very busy with engagements and preparations; writing that, the following Wednesday, he will be traveling to Windsor ("the King having commanded my first appearance there on Thursday Eve"), that he'll return to Bristol on Friday for a performance, and then go back to Windsor for another performance on Saturday: "This I know you will say is imprudent; but I assure you I could not well avoid it, & travelling always agrees with me"; excusing himself, under the circumstances, for writing such a short letter.
