Summary
Beginning "Once more I am in London, & once more have I paid my respects to a London audience. The spirit of applause I found had not evaporated, on the contrary from my absence it seem'd to have gain'd increas'd vigour, & I was welcom'd with honest, & hearty greeting -- The character was Octavian, which I shall repeat next week"; writing that he will probably remain at Colman's theater the rest of the season; reminding his uncle that he promised to send some books: "Mrs E. longs to have them, & has determined to peruse them with me, I have some notion you will be troubled with a letter from her shortly"; writing that Colman's play The Iron Chest has been published, "with a bitter pill at the commencement for Kemble to swallow, I think you will be diverted with it, it is certainly worthy perusal"; saying that it is going to be performed at the Haymarket Theatre and that he will be playing the part of Sir Edward Mortimer; mentioning that his uncle will see from his address that he is staying at his "quondam lodging house; I like my apartments well, & the good folks are very civil"; adding that the Rundalls send their respects.
