Summary
Discussing the separation of his parents and the arrangements necessitated by this: "[i]t is thought best to sell the goods, at least all that part which may be requisite to satisfy the creditors. Was my mother to stay in the house those things were to be reserv'd, useful to carry on the busyness, & to protect my father from any of those evils you mention'd"; writing that his father may take a separate apartment; mentioning his aunt Heath and her opinions about the proposal; continuing "it will still remain to be determin'd as to the best way of securing my father from any inconvenience, & yet permitting my mother to make the tryal"; adding that both his father and his mother are complicating the process, "each being so irresolute as to reject the one moment, what they had the previous instant form'd in their minds"; writing of the difficulty of conveying the situation in a letter; adding "Partiality I have endeavour'd to avoid as far as possible. More or less I apprehend it must exist. That person who thinks most just will have the least."
