Summary
Informing his uncle of his arrival in town and writing that his "chief object is to obtain the honour of an interview with you"; continuing "I need not (nor can I) describe how anxious I am to see you. Words cannot do justice to the feelings of my heart"; hoping that his uncle will agree to meet with him in Cambridge, "if you can condescend to receive one who I assure you greatly regrets the loss of a friendship which he has cruelly slighted heretofore, but which he is now desirous to cultivate"; lamenting "the loss of your excellent instruction which has deprived me of an opportunity of pleading in defence of an error which I trust in time you will forget"; begging his uncle to favor him with an answer.
