Summary
Informing Merwin that he received two letters from him within two days, one which had a long forwarding from New York; saying that since then he heard from Anne [Buchanan] and saw her; adding that he withdrew his book from Macmillan after they set the type because they wanted to make the book smaller, and that they once said they would do Merwin's fourth book as part of their paperback series; saying that his book [What a kingdom it was] comes out in April by Houghton Mifflin, but was postponed because the Hudson Review wanted to do the longest poem in its Winter 1960 issue; updating Merwin on what countries, cities, and states he has traveled to this past summer; discussing financials; inquiring about getting the same house that Merwin had in France for next summer; saying that he doesn't expect to be in New York in the fall, but hoping Merwin can get other readings; mentioning that Robert Bly is doing the NYU reading series and that he suggested Buddhadeva Bose for its visiting professor in the spring of '61, and if he can't get over, then he will suggest Merwin if he wants it.
