Thanking Merwin for his card and invitation which he would have gladly accepted, had he been on the same continent, but he left on August 28th; saying that he spent some time at Arles and around the Camargue, so he wasn't far from where he is now, but Merwin wasn't in France then; adding that he is back in New York and currently unemployed, but that he expects his book "Seven streams" will be out in the spring; stating that there is a chance he may get to France again for a longer stay if he finds a job over there, otherwise he will remain somewhere in the U.S.; hoping he gets to see him in France or London.
