Summary
Responding to Knight's request to use letters by her late husband John Coleridge in a volume of reminiscences: "I consulted those who are kindly advising me as to his papers etc. & they said I ought not to consent to the publication of any letters at all without first seeing them & even then discretion should be used in permitting his correspondence to be published. I am obliged to be entirely guided by the advice of those who have helped me so far. My own inclination would lead me to acquiesce in any wishes of yours, with reference to your book, but of course I see this might detract from a biography should one be written. If you are able to send me the letters you desire to include in your book, I will undertake to have them all returned to you & I could then tell you whether or not they could be published"; adding that she is always in on Sunday afternoons until 6:30 or 7.
