Summary
Thanking him for his kind note and informing him that he has accepted Balfour's offer to be an assessor at St. Andrews; saying he had been ill most of the summer but is much better; adding "I was very thankful I was not in Parliament during last session for that reason. I don't think the appointment has been made public yet but I daresay I will get the notice when the meetings of the Court take place. I very well remember our last meeting in London. I expect Craik to be with me here soon when we are to have some meetings of the Committee on Scottish Education in Scotland before Parl't meets;" concluding that he hopes to see him when he is next at St. Andrews.
