Summary
Concerning the purchase of a first edition copy of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland;" saying "Since writing to you I have made inquiries about 'Alice in Wonderland' and find that a copy of the 1st Ed. would probably cost £10...My agent tells me that he sold the last copy for £7 and that since the authors death the price has gone up very considerably. Under these circumstances I shall be glad, in case you wish me to buy you a copy to bind, if you will give me a limit of price & remit me the amount on account;" adding, in a postscript, "In my last letter I proposed a plain binding in view of the shortness of time at my disposal. I assume, now, that if I [illegible] I have time, I may decorate the cover to the am't originally proposed."
