Cleland does not refer to Dickinson by name on the letter, but internal evidence strongly suggests that he is the recipient.
In Fanny Hill in Bombay: The Making and Unmaking of John Cleland (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2012), Hal Gladfelder identifies the bookseller mentioned in this letter as Samuel Hooper (see page 193). The British Book Trade Index also places Hooper at the address Cleland gives for him during this time period.
