Summary
Confirming that he has received letters from Bubb and five copies of his book [i.e. Bubb's edition of Cournos's translations of works by Fyodor Sologub] and praising the book's appearance and production quality; stating that he has nothing suitable for Bubb at the moment, but that he is preparing to go to Russia, where he is "to do some semi-official Anglo-Russian work ... I hope to be able to send you some translations from there."; denouncing the translations of Russian poetry in the Russian Review as "absolutely execrable", and adding that, "What these people don't understand is that it takes a poet to translate a poet. In Russia the best English poets have been translated by men [who are?] writers themselves. In England & America the trade is in the hands of the hacks."; briefly recounting the facts of his biography, including his birth in Russia, relocation to Philadelphia, and current residence in London, and the relocation of his family to Pittsburgh in his absence; expressing his pleasure at learning that Bubb will have more material from the Aldingtons [i.e. Richard and Hilda Doolittle], and notifying him that he will be giving a copy of his book to the British Museum.
