Notes
The year of writing is not given however Childers and his wife lived in Chelsea from 1904-1919.
Childers and Cowper were early members of the Cruising Association and through it shared a love of sailing.
Written on stationery embossed "13, Embankment Gardens, / Chelsea, S.W."
The letter has two penciled notations, in an unknown hand, at the bottom of the page: the first, in the left hand corner "+ / R.I.P. / Dublin 1921" and in the right hand corner "shot for H.T. / by Irish Exec."

Thanking him for his letter and "...for the 'eccentricity!' I didn't know the Lynher anchorage, though I [illegible] I know most places around there. I am writing, but not novels alas! I hope you are cruising and describing in your old style!"
