Summary
Thanking him for the service book he sent him; describing his departure from Leeds, saying "I left Leeds about a fortnight ago, after farewells that were inexpressibly sad to me. Yet it was cheering, too, to receive assurances from many sides that my words had been often helpful. Alas, however, one sees only too clearly, when the last ties are snapped, and one stands apart from one's former work, how much more might have been done: and the measure of obligation is certainly not less than that of possibility: sending him his final sermon; describing the countryside where he will be for the summer; inviting him to visit whenever he is in London; describing what he is working on in preparation for the fall term and wishing him a good summer holiday.
