Summary
Concerning Knight's resignation from St. Andrews; saying "I trust that it does not mean that uncertainties of health & the abundance of recent cares have made your professorial duties too laborious for you. At any rate, the freedom which release from the lecturer's labour will bring you, will I trust, enable you to gather up the fruits of your thought into more permanent form. Your constant literary activity bewilders me: I find it so hard to get my tasks accomplished. I have sent on your letter to Miss G. Martineau. It interests me greatly to hear that you have a volume on Miss Swanwick in hand. I must think over my impressions & see what I can recall. Le me know the latest date by which they will be of any use to you."
