Summary
Concerning his manuscript for Spinoza; saying "I wish there had been more time for your kind suggestions & I am quite conscious that amongst other improvements compression is greatly needed. But I suppose these books are intended, if not for the general public, for a public who need something more diluted than pemmican, even if I were capable of supplying the latter article. I need not repeat my regret for all the editorial bother I have given you. I hope you are now well on with your Shairp business;" relating news of a mutual friend.
