Summary
Concerning his manuscript for Spinoza; saying "I have only a short final Chapter to write, & a brief notice to insert where it was left out of Spinoza's earlier treatise De Deo &c; but when I shall get a day's quiet leisure for this work I know not. Besides ordinary engagements the Senate have imposed on me the charge of the Ch. History Class till Story is ready to take the reins. But I will not waste time when I can get it. I am quite ashamed of all this bother about a small production which, I am profoundly conscious, is not worthy of a place in your series. As to sending the MS. to St. A. or direct, the latter course would save time, & I don't care to subject you to the task of revising my rubbish."
