Summary
Discussing the progress on his book; saying "I think I told you that I had a final Chapter to write, & also that I had left out as yet any notice of the 'De Deo &c' treatise. But I cannot get a hands [illegible] done to it in the Winter. At any rate, my time is so broken up by business & outward engagements of all sorts that anything of the nature of continuous study is all but impossible. Blackwood sh'd know best, but I don't see how the success of the series depends on rapid publication. I sh'd think each book w'd stand for itself whatever the gap between it & the rest. At any rate I am very sorry for your sake that I cannot fix a date for handing over the MS at present. Alas, the worst of it is that it is not worth even a fraction of the trouble you have had about it."
