Camden was appointed Clarenceux king of arms in October 1597, a role in which he supervised all matters having to do with arms (including the granting and confirming of them) over an area to the south, west and east of the River Trent.
Summary
Consisting of a coat of arms, painted in gold, silver, red, and black, and the following inscription: "The Armes and Creast of Richard Woode of / Brokthorpe in the Countye of the cytie off / Glocester Esquier, exemplified and confirmed / by me Will[i]am Camden Clarenceux Kinge / of Armes." Camden has signed his name and given his title a second time below the inscription.
