Summary
Expressing his regret at having read in the papers "...that your doctors were alarmed about your health - On the other hand I do not know whether it is an advantage for you or the reverse that the Inquisitors have been strained(?) with granting a respite of your trial... Nichol seem to hope when I saw him that you could go to the Alps with him. I am lecturing for a number of colleges on a combined scheme of teaching. Oxford is very much changed & changing, & it is probable that the new Commission will result on a still more complete alteration of systems. Some even speak of having subordinate colleges in a great number of the larger towns. But no one seems to have a distinct plan to propose as yet."
