Acquired as part of a large collection of letters addressed to William Angus Knight, Chair of Moral Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews and Wordsworth scholar. Items in the collection have been individually accessioned and cataloged.
Written on the letterhead and with the seal of Glasgow College.
The year of writing is not provided however from a letter written by Caird's brother John Caird (1820-1898) to Professor Knight (MA 9198.1) dated January 22, 1872, we can date this letter to 1872. In John Caird's letter to Knight he introduces himself and invites him to preach on February 18th.
