Summary
Discussing, at length and in some detail, his opposition to a Commission report that appears to be related to the Universities Act of Scotland; adding that he is "...sorry Nichol said anything about a new University. I think it must have been inadvertent. I had not seen it. I hope, however, that one way or another, you may be able to come to some kind of arrangement with Dundee. They complain of you as you of them. But it would be well to make almost any concession to secure unity. However, I am speaking in the dark as to the special circumstances;" giving him his address in Patterdale and inviting him to visit "...for a few days walking."
