Summary
Acknowledging receipt of a telegram and going on to complain that 7,00 copies of a pamphlet by Sir Sidney Lee [i.e. The alleged vandalism at Stratford-on-Avon], "have been surreptitiously introduced into the Free Library here ... It is quite plain to all who know anything about the matter, that Sir Sidney Lee has introduced these pamphlets to keep alive the allegations against me", and further pointing out that "An independent person asking at the Library as to how they came to have 7,000 copies, was told quite openly 'The publishers presented them'. Thus my telegram to you."; suggesting that, should a representative of the publisher come to Stratford, they should purchase a copy of the offending pamphlet and ask the same question regarding the source of the copies.
