Forms part of a collection of 8 letters addressed by Marie Corelli to William Maxse Meredith of Constable and Co. (see MA 13865.1-8).
Concerns the controversy over the proposed construction of a library in Stratford-on-Avon by Andrew Carnegie, and Corelli's role in opposing the project on the grounds that it would entail the destruction of historical buildings in the immediate vicinity of Shakespeare's birthplace.
Sent as an enclosure with a letter from Corelli to Meredith of the same date, cataloged separately (see MA 13865.6).
