Summary
Relating news from Oxford; saying "I have been very much pressed with business for some time but have had time to glance over your 'Nichol' wh I think is very well done & brings out his character well. I w'd have liked more of his letters, but I can understand that it was difficult to select. It brings up many things from his shadowy past, wh. I had forgotten. The circle of old friends is getting thin;" saying he will attend a College event at which he will make an after-dinner speech; relating his plans for the month of August and hoping Knight might join him for a few "rambles;" reporting that his brother is improving "...very slowly, but steadily. I trust, however, he will need to take things very gently for a long while;" adding that he will visit his brother in September.
