Giving his verdict on theses by Douglas and Barker, submitted for consideration for the Shaw Fellowship in Mental Philosophy: "My judgment is that Douglas is the Shaw Fellow: -- but that Barker has reached such a level as to rank well with Douglas, & that he ought to have mention along with Douglas in our award, while he is announced as the Hamilton Fellow, by [James] Seth & me."
