Apologizing for not being at the Wordsworth meeting but expressing his pleasure that the meeting was a success; putting forth his recommendations "...in behalf of several candidates of ours for the Dundee Chairs - in case you c'd be able to put in a word on the subject. I do not know whether Nichol has written you about MacCallum, but suppose he has done so; commenting on MacCallum and also recommending Sonnenschein and Muirhead as candidates for the Latin Chair; adding that he finished his "...article on Metaphysics for the Encyclopedia - which has cost me much more time than I had intended. I shall in a week or two get to work on my 'Hegel' & hope..."
