Explaining the way The Authors' Syndicate functions; saying that it "...undertakes agency work simply - that is, we do not accept in the ordinary sense stories or articles. If authors send them to us for publication either in serial form with [a] magazine or for the purpose of getting them published, we do our best with them, charging simply a commission to cover working expenses on monies received - It is a branch of the Society of Authors and its conductors are unpaid, so that we cannot consider ourselves a trading concern. Like most people we prefer to deal with well-known names, but are always glad to assist in every possible way any or every author."
