Summary
Discussing a song he has written for which he hopes Miss Gillington will write the lyrics (see MA 9176.7); explaining compensation practices for lyricists; adding "Hoping you think favourable, and not too difficult the task, as I know, it is always very hard to set Words to Music already composed, & it is for that reason I regret you being so far away as by consulting, some slight alterations could be made in the Music for the Words;" adding, in a postscript, If R. Cocks does not take the Song, Mr. Boosey will or Chappell, but naturally Mr. Cocks has the first chance.
