"On project Waldport Ore." at top lefthand corner of page 1.
Poem has 38 lines: "And will the future, / knowing and wise, / make fun of our lives, / As we smile at the ludicrous / antics of apes" [...] "can the photograph teach? / in its vast prestige" [...] "Oh, surley, who loved and / were target, / This is not we."
Inscription in ink at the bottom of page 2: "Strange to see this first draft of 'Can the photograph teach' from Chronicle of Decision, escaped from its proper dossier in the Clark[?], here on my 66th birthday! With best regards Jim Ripper[?] Bill Everson Sept 10, 1978 Kingfisher Flat."
