Summary
Concerning Knight's Memoir of John Nichol; saying he has a copy and "...had no idea that it was to appear for some months, or even for a year, and am sorry not to have known, for I would have made an effort to get some notes put together which might have helped to fill up the memories of Oxford. Indeed only a fortnight ago, having a little holiday, I had meant to devote some hours to this task, but was unwell, and unable to address myself to it. However, I dare say you have obtained abundant materials from other sources: still my regard for J.N. was so great that I should have liked to be of the smallest use in commemorating him. I am very glad you have got the book accomplished."
