Summary
Concerning the Lord Rectorship at St. Andrews; saying "With regard to the Lord Rectorship Breadalbane says of course Rosebery is the man - & he would not like to compete with Lord Bute in any contest, if he wishes to retain the high position - Still of course Breadalbane is deeply interested in & attached to his old University & would no doubt be highly honored if it was wished that he should become Lord Rector - but he would not at all like any fight between himself & any other for the Students favor!;" adding "...I am more enclined than ever to be glad that Xmas comes but once a year, & a silver wedding one in 25 years!;" adding, in a postscript, "Young Sellars is getting on very well in Edinburgh with Messrs. Davidson & Lyon."
