Summary
Thanking him for his "...remembrance of my lad, George Sellars. I did see The Principal & had a talk with him. He also saw the lad, & the conclusion is, he goes to try his luck on his own merits on the 13th Oct'r & failing success in this way, The Principal has promised him the Wilkie Bursary. I cannot help feeling if it had not been for our conversation in the train, I should never have had the courage to send the lad up - so I shall always owe to you whatever success he achieves. I shall be in St Andrews shortly & hope to be able to call on you."
