Summary
Telling him she has asked his present school Master to send his records; expressing her hope that the young Boy will have an opportunity for a University education; adding "The Boy is suited for a superior sort of place, he is good looking & gentlemanlike in manner & thought & being absolutely friendless but for me, I am anxious to get him just the opportunity, which I am sure he would make the most of - His history is this - His Parents both died when he was about 6 years old & since then he has been in my orphanage, for two years articled at the Village Board School, where he has always passed the necessary Exams, creditably. His age is just on 17 - name George Sellars;" saying she will send him "up in October for the Bursary competition & see what he can do - In the meantime if I know the Special Subjects, could get him worked up during the summer holidays - It is no doubt one of those cases, where if ability is shown, a presentation Bursary would be well bestowed, as the lad is a thoroughly [illegible] hard working good lad & would be sure to profit by a good chance."
