Summary
Sending his "hearty thanks" for the memoir of John Campbell Shairp that Knight had just published (Principal Shairp and his Friends, London: John Murray, 1888); apologizing for making two mistakes in his contribution; taking issue with a quotation by a former student that he attributed to Bradley: "I was rather startled to see the words [Henry] Rhoades put into my mouth -- he can't have invented them -- but they were so hyperbolical & untrue for him to have quoted without a 'tip' to me -- I can't the least remember them"; commenting on the presentation of Shairp's "very free & bold thinking on religious questions" in the book.
